Automated hiring: what applicants can and cannot infer

Separate resume parsing, employer screening and hiring decisions without assuming a universal rejection percentage.

Does an ATS reject nearly everyone automatically?

There is no substantiated universal rejection rate on this page. Applicant tracking systems support different employer workflows; parsing a resume, applying eligibility questions and making a hiring decision are not the same operation. A rejection or missing reply does not reveal which step was responsible.

Editorial correction: an earlier version presented 95–98% automated rejection and a uniform “algorithmic firewall” as established facts. Those figures and vendor-specific descriptions were not adequately supported and have been removed.

What can an applicant actually check?

Read the job requirements and application questions. Follow the requested file format, use clear headings and review any fields populated from your resume. Correct missing or misassigned text before submission when the application permits it.

A resume checker may help you inspect content or identify keyword differences. It does not reveal an employer's private configuration or reproduce a recruiter's decision. Do not infer that a score predicts your chance of an interview.

What if I keep receiving no response?

Review fit, role level, eligibility, channel and the version submitted. Record response dates and follow the employer's instructions about contact. If possible, ask a qualified practitioner to review a representative application.

Timing, a changed vacancy, internal candidates and competition may matter. Without employer feedback, the cause remains uncertain. No consumer tool can promise to bypass a hiring process.
